The Folklore refers to the beliefs, practices and customs that are traditional to a people or culture. This includes for example the stories, crafts, music and dances. Dance, on the other hand, is the act of dancing, ie, the execution of movement to the rhythm of music. These two definitions allow us to approach the concept of folkloric dance, which are the traditional dances of a culture. The folkloric dance usually performed by tradition and can be danced by any man and woman. This type of dance is performed especially during social events such as festivals and commemorations. Youngsters learn to see dancing to the elderly, who are responsible for teaching the secrets of each dance to perpetuate the tradition.
The line of work of the Folkloric Ballet of the Bio Bio considers a putting in scene where traditional dance incorporates the universal techniques of dance such as ballet and modern dance.
The Folkloric Ballet courses taught at our Academy have as principal aim the preparation of folklore integral dancers and to use as seedbed to nourish of members to the Official Cast of the Folkloric Ballet of the Bío Bío.
